In Postmodern thought, interpretations of The Matrix often reference Baudrillard's philosophy to demonstrate that the movie is an allegory for contemporary experience in a heavily commercialized, media-driven society, especially in developed countries. Another angle is supplied by French artist, psychoanalyst and feminist theorist Bracha L. Ettinger's "Matrix" Notebooks from the 1980s and Matrixial theory from the 1990s. This influence was brought to the public's attention through the writings of art historians such as Griselda Pollock and film theorists such as Heinz-Peter Schwerfel. Ettinger began to articulate the matrixial sphere and the matrixial gaze as a psychic unconscious sphere with social, cultural, spiritual, and finally political implications around 1985, alongside a series of paintings named Matrix.
Her notebooks named "Matrix" were first published in France in 1991, reprinted in 1992 by Deleuze and Guattari, and in 1993 by the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) in Oxford. Starting a long series of essays on the Matrix with "Matrix and Metramorphosis" (Differences 4(3)) in 1992 and "The Matrixial Gaze" in 1994, Ettinger transformed the debates in psychoanalysis, postmodernism, feminist theory, gaze and aesthetics in terms of the matrixial borderspace already during the 1990s. In Ettinger's matrixial theory the emphasis is on the space of "co-emergence" of several "I" and "non-I", the virtual, potential and actual shareability of traces of trauma and of phantasy (beginning in the womb as matrix), on the mental re-co-birth where subjects are trans-connected by psychic strings and threads to form trans-subjectivity.
Also released was The Animatrix, a collection of nine animated short films, many of which were created in the same Japanese animation style that was a strong influence on the live trilogy. The Animatrix was overseen and approved by the Wachowskis but they only wrote four of the segments themselves and did not direct any of them; much of the project was created by notable figures from the world of anime.

The extracellular matrix is a fundamental, core component of all tissues and organs, and is essential for the existence of multicellular organisms. From the earliest stages of organism development until death, it regulates and fine-tunes every cellular process in the body. In cancer, the extracellular matrix is altered at the biochemical, biomechanical, architectural and topographical levels, and recent years have seen an exponential increase in the study and recognition of the importance of the matrix in solid tumours. Coupled with the advancement of new technologies to study various elements of the matrix and cell-matrix interactions, we are also beginning to see the deployment of matrix-centric, stromal targeting cancer therapies. This Review touches on many of the facets of matrix biology in solid cancers, including breast, pancreatic and lung cancer, with the aim of highlighting some of the emerging interactions of the matrix and influences that the matrix has on tumour onset, progression and metastatic dissemination, before summarizing the ongoing work in the field aimed at developing therapies to co-target the matrix in cancer and cancer metastasis.
A matrix strategy lets you use variables in a single job definition to automatically create multiple job runs that are based on the combinations of the variables. For example, you can use a matrix strategy to test your code in multiple versions of a language or on multiple operating systems.
Use jobs..strategy.matrix to define a matrix of different job configurations. Within your matrix, define one or more variables followed by an array of values. For example, the following matrix has a variable called version with the value [10, 12, 14] and a variable called os with the value [ubuntu-latest, windows-latest]:
By default, GitHub will maximize the number of jobs run in parallel depending on runner availability. The order of the variables in the matrix determines the order in which the jobs are created. The first variable you define will be the first job that is created in your workflow run. For example, the above matrix will create the jobs in the following order:
The variables that you define become properties in the matrix context, and you can reference the property in other areas of your workflow file. In this example, you can use matrix.version and matrix.os to access the current value of version and os that the job is using. For more information, see "Contexts."
For example, the following workflow defines the variable version with the values [10, 12, 14]. The workflow will run three jobs, one for each value in the variable. Each job will access the version value through the matrix.version context and pass the value as node-version to the actions/setup-node action.
For example, the following workflow triggers on the repository_dispatch event and uses information from the event payload to build the matrix. When a repository dispatch event is created with a payload like the one below, the matrix version variable will have a value of [12, 14, 16]. For each object in the include list, the key:value pairs in the object will be added to each of the matrix combinations if none of the key:value pairs overwrite any of the original matrix values. If the object cannot be added to any of the matrix combinations, a new matrix combination will be created instead. Note that the original matrix values will not be overwritten, but added matrix values can be overwritten.
If you don't specify any matrix variables, all configurations under include will run. For example, the following workflow would run two jobs, one for each include entry. This lets you take advantage of the matrix strategy without having a fully populated matrix.
To remove specific configurations defined in the matrix, use jobs..strategy.matrix.exclude. An excluded configuration only has to be a partial match for it to be excluded. For example, the following workflow will run nine jobs: one job for each of the 12 configurations, minus the one excluded job that matches os: macos-latest, version: 12, environment: production, and the two excluded jobs that match os: windows-latest, version: 16.
jobs..strategy.fail-fast applies to the entire matrix. If jobs..strategy.fail-fast is set to true, GitHub will cancel all in-progress and queued jobs in the matrix if any job in the matrix fails. This property defaults to true.
You can use jobs..strategy.fail-fast and jobs..continue-on-error together. For example, the following workflow will start four jobs. For each job, continue-on-error is determined by the value of matrix.experimental. If any of the jobs with continue-on-error: false fail, all jobs that are in progress or queued will be cancelled. If the job with continue-on-error: true fails, the other jobs will not be affected.
By default, GitHub will maximize the number of jobs run in parallel depending on runner availability. To set the maximum number of jobs that can run simultaneously when using a matrix job strategy, use jobs..strategy.max-parallel.

The Matrix Computation Toolbox is a collection of MATLAB M-files containingfunctions for constructing test matrices, computing matrix factorizations,visualizing matrices, and carrying out direct search optimization. Variousother miscellaneous functions are also included.This toolbox supersedes the author's earlier Test Matrix Toolbox(final release 1995).
The matrix visual is similar to a table. A table supports two dimensions and the data is flat, meaning duplicate values are displayed and not aggregated. A matrix makes it easier to display data meaningfully across multiple dimensions -- it supports a stepped layout. The matrix automatically aggregates the data and enables you to drill down.
You can create matrix visuals in Power BI reports and cross-highlight elements within the matrix with other visuals on that report page. For example, you can select rows, columns, and even individual cells and cross-highlight. Also, individual cells and multiple cell selections can be copied and pasted into other applications.
The expansion state of the matrix will save with your report. A matrix can be pinned to a dashboard expanded or collapsed. When that dashboard tile is selected, and the report opens, the expansion state can still be changed in the report.
